...things can only get better...

Difficult day Monday 28th Jan. First thing talking to a group of staff that I'm a trustee of about the likely redundancy of almost all of them. One of whom just lost her mother on Friday; who used to be an employee at 'Link-Up' at St. Margaret's (ex)church on Longhill. Very brave (of her), very sad.
Concerning the organisation, this situation raises too many questions about the various ways that New Labour has changed the environment in which voluntary organisations operate for it to be safe for me to get into that. On the other hand, they have earned more than the minimum wage, benefitted from a variety of funding streams and have a better chance of another job than under previous administrations. Won't be much consolation to most of them come 31st March.
Later, the funeral of a young girl. I'm not at liberty to talk about that situation for other reasons, though sometime I hope to, but, in the meantime, heaven help us all.
Sadness and politics. They don't really mix do they? Politics seems to be all about super-confidence; knowing why you are right and everyone else is wrong. Bit like how most people see that thing that maybe defines me rather more than politics, Christianity, I suppose.
Anyway, today, I'm terribly sad.
